Jess Fales

Hi! My name is Jess, and I live in Leelanau County, MI. Born and raised in Kalamazoo, I founded Epic Fales Photography when I was only sixteen. My involvement with local programs that supported young artists (specifically Education for the Arts and the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts) made this possible. I graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and attended both Kalamazoo College and Western Michigan University. I graduated from college in 2019 and moved to Glen Arbor, MI, where I continue to work as a residential instructor at the Leelanau School.

I rediscovered my love for painting and drawing in 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown. Besides a brief dalliance in art school halfway through college, I hadn't sat down to focus on art since I'd been in high school, and I don't remember the last time I sat down to create art just for the fun of it.  I started doodling with cheap colored pencils and Sharpies, and it all sort of just took off from there.
